Taos Salomon Extreme Freeride Championships: Qualifiers Day

Qualifiers Day - 11th place

Wish I could have had this up sooner, but the internet here appears to be out of the ice age. Qualifiers went down today. I was really impressed with the level of skiing, almost everyone skied within their ability and skied challenging fluid lines. It was a far cry from the mayhem of Jackson. It was great to see a lot of familiar faces get through today, and I'm really stoked for tomorrow. Like I think I mentioned yesterday, the venue for tomorrow is the same as today and then the rest of the West Basin ridge through Tunderbird. I really really hope I can make it through tomorrow, theres a lot of really really good pre qualified athletes here, so its gonna be quite a show! I'm feeling a bit under the weather, so I'm going to hit the hay nice and early!

  1. I wish I could see some POV you and Rob took of your runs.

I chanced upon a guy on youtube who rode almost the exact same line on Kachina that I skied for my qualifier day, and it was amazing how well I remember that line. I studied the shit out of it, so I guess that would make sense...

I miss competition days. :( There's nothing like knowing a line flat-cold and having the legs and fluidity to rip through it and ski out all schtoked-like. Anyway, six hours of daydreaming is enough. Bedtime!
