Haleakala Sunrise

At the end of July I went to Maui for a family reunion. I had never been there before, so as always, I was excited to go somewhere new. The first morning we were there we watched the sunrise from the summit of Haleakala, a giant 10,023 foot shield volcano. Since we were jet-lagged anyways, going the first morning we were there was great since waking up at 3:30 was no problem. The temperature at sunrise on top of the volcano was 46 degrees, and combined with a strong wind it was cold! Almost felt like winter.....
